Anonymous Dumps 1.7GB Worth of Data From DoJ Statistics Branch Using The Pirate Bay...

anonymousIn a bold move AntiSec (part of the Anonymous movement) has decided to release what they claim is 1.7GB of files from a branch of the US Department of Justice. Unlike many other dumps which have been on Pastebin this time they chose to use The Pirate Bay. We are guessing that it has to do with the size of the dump (a fairly hefty 1.7GB), but could also be partly due to issues that have popped up with Pastebin and their decision to remove dumps like this as quickly as possible. Then dump was been tweeted about on the twitter feed PlanetHacks who has claimed responsibility for posting the file (the name of the person tweeting about it is Joke which makes us Wonder…). According to the Twitter feed the attack was “a local file inclusion to obtain an encrypted password, and decrypted it afterwards.”

A Rumor About a GTX 600 Series Recall has Popped Up, Is There Any Truth To It? Probably Not

nV_LogoOver the weekend rumors popped up that nVidia was preparing to begin a full recall on all Kepler based products. The rumor cited a leak from TSMC stating that Kepler “chips may be suffering from serious performance degradation over long periods of heavy load”. This sounds almost exactly like what came out of “sources” at TSMC during the “bumpgate” issue that happened when the solder bumps in certain GPUs were failing due to degradation over multiple heat cycles. However, does this rumor have any truth to it? Or are we seeing a return to the days of Guerilla marketing like we did in the early 2000s.

Windows 8 Getting the Re-Once Over By Many Sites as We Near a New CPP Release

win8logoredesignedIt looks like we might have done our Windows 8 coverage the wrong way around as we are now seeing a host of articles that are showing off the new look of the desktop, the Metro UI News, Sports and Weather apps and more. This is very odd as we have been talking about much this since the Build Conference. Still it is very possible that some of these sites are now listing these items in a new PR push for Microsoft. After all the most recent one we saw on the new Desktop Look had a direct quote from them on Aero and the “vista” look.

Samsung And Vlingo Are Blocking S-Voice If You Are Not Using A Galaxy S III

SVoiceAlthough Samsung has officially mocked the lack of choice that you get with Apple and has made statement and insinuations that Apple is a closed company it sure seems that they are not above the same behavior themselves when it comes to their own phones and services. Lately the internet has been buzzing with talk about their new Galaxy S III phone.

New Silicon Oxide Material Found That Uses 1/1000th the Energy To Achive 100x The Performance

MR01With the issues that popped up over heat in Ivy Bridge we started to dig deeper into the limitations of the materials currently used. We have been following the progress of Graphene, Carbon Nanotubes, and are even on the lookout for other materials that might be used either alongside these more advanced options or perhaps even in combination (like Graphene and Nanotubes can be). Today we stumbled on an interesting article that covers a new material while also covering a new technology.
