Android KitKat to focus on TV support

According to the Korean newspaper ETNews, a new version of the operating system Android will be more focused on options for television than for smart mobile phones, so it may not bring such a huge update for smartphones as many of users are expecting.

After Facebook recently acquired a company Onavo whose patents should accelerate and optimize applications for mobile platforms, Google for $16.9 million bought the French company FlexyCore, author of the DroidBooster applications, which improves the speed of execution of Android applications without increasing power consumption.

53% increase in tablet deliveries

According to forecasts by Gartner this year tablet deliveries will increase by 53% , while the deliveries of desktop and notebook PCs will fall by 11%. Tablets of all manufacturers based on the Android operating system for the first time should overtake Apple's iPad product line. We can expect delivery of 91.5 million Android devices (49.6 %), compared to 89.6 million iPads shipped (or 48.6%). As for the tablets on a Windows operating system, it is expected that there will be more than 3 million units shipped, which gives them a 1.7% share.

After the general announcement that Google’s Chrome exposes user information to capture, Google has come back with a reply. It seems that Google does not want anyone to know that there is a security hole in their flagship browser. They are continuing to claim that it is “the most secure” browser and that Chrome maintains user data in an encrypted format. They feel that there is nothing wrong and that the information being presented by Information Finders is no big deal. If Chrome is storing data then it will be encrypted… if your OS supports it and that it only collects this information if the user asks it to. It is a very interesting statement to be made given the information presented.

A large number of Google products on the market often achieves rather meager success. One of them is Google TV, which never managed to attract a larger number of users.

Although Google is probably the leader in internet advertising they are now taking their cues from Facebook. According to Google’s new terms and conditions they are giving themselves the rights to any images you post for advertisements. After Facebook’s recent slap on the wrist for illegally using the images of their users for advertising Facebook used the ruling to make important changes to their data usage policy which ensured they would still be able to use the data they wanted. It would seem that others were looking into this and are now making changes to follow Facebook’s lead.

In keeping with our recent focus on security we have some bad news for users of Google’s Chrome Web Browser. It would seem that the way Chrome caches web pages to deliver performance also exposes that information to malicious individuals. Security researchers at Identity Finders confirmed something that we have suspected since the launch of the browser many years ago. Chromes cache stores user information including names, email and mailing addresses, credit card, bank account phone and even social security numbers if entered into the browser.
