Windows Phone 7.8 will continue to exist along with Windows Phone 8

Although almost all the attention of Microsoft and the public is focused on Windows Phone 8, the older generation OS is far from retirement, according to Microsoft. They surely brought nothing but dissapointment when they announced that the Lumia 900 and all other first generation WP7 devices wont be able to upgrade to WP8. They will try to calm down users by giving them 7.8 but that probably wont be enough.

And Here Comes Barnes & Noble... Sort Of

Tablets.  I love tablets, those imminently portable magical slates that fit in a jacket pocket and not only hold several thousand novels but let me check my e-mail, update my Facebook status, surf the web and play Angry Birds any time I want.  The problem with tablets is that until relatively recently they were priced out of the range of the average consumer.  Yes, the folks in the ivory tower of Apple have made them available for many years but only to what amounts to the elite of the consumer world.  Things have changed, and are changing more by the day.

Intel Prepares Briarwood Atoms for data storage

Intel is developing another Atom processor for specialized applications. The chip, codenamed Briarwood, is expected to hit the market in the first quarter of next year and is designed specifically for the data storage segment , SAN(Storage area network) solutions and SBB (Storage building blocks) products. The processor will have two Saltwell x86 cores with support for virtualization and HT (4 logical cores) and single channel DDR3 memory controller with support for ECC. Within Briarwood should be found the Crystal Beach DMA engine, which offers support for RAID 5 and 6, and DIF.

Samsung brings their own 5 inch Full HD smartphone

According to a Korean newspaper, Samsung has also prepared a 5 inch screen that will display in full HD resolution (1920x1080). The screen should be demonstrated in January at CES, they state. Samsung dose not want to be left behind by other big companies like HTC, LG, Sharp and Sony, some of them have already presented theirs while the rest are rumored to be preparing the same.
