South Korean Court Bans Older Samsung and Apple Phones And Tablets

73

Although Samsung and Apple are waging a global patent war against each other most eyes are fixed on the US where a group of nine people will decide who gets to file for appeal. However, while we all wait for that exciting moment in history to happen there is another case that is going on in South Korea between these two competitors. The case covers the same basic patents between the two companies and the same phones so the details are a little boring. What was interesting is that the South Korean courts decided to wait on a verdict while the US trial was underway. Many thought they were going to wait until a US verdict was reach and then hand down a judgment that matched. However, it just seems they may have wanted to hear all of the facts in the US case before making a decision.

New Material Found That Could Revolutionize The Way CPUs and Other Computer Components Are Made

300px-Graphen

As companies race towards smaller and faster processors they continually run into a problem. This problem is one of current leakage. As the process used to make the individual transistors shrinks current leakage grows. There have been many concepts presented to combat this leakage some of which have been successful such as AMD’s SOI (Silicon on Insulator), Intel’s High-K Metal Gate and Tri-Gate Transistors. These work fairly well down to 28nm, but start to become less efficient at 22nm and below. Most agree that to move forward with smaller transistors a new material is needed.

OnLive CEO keeps his job after new investors

Onlive-Logo

After we found out that OnLive faced financial disaster we expected that a new board would come to replace the one that led the company to bankruptcy, but looks like that is not the case. Steve Perlman get to keep his chair and remains CEO at OnLive. Their restructuring created a $40 million loss to HTC for what they invested in the company. I looks like the new investors believe that the former CEO can turn things around and make profit with their help.

New Kindle to arrive on 6th of September

Amazon1

Amazon has joined the club of companies that reserved September for their big events. They sent invitations to newspapers for their press conference that will take place at Santa Monica, California, however no further details were provided. As usual, this created a bunch of rumors, and most believable are those about Amazon launching a new Kindle Fire, or even several different models of it. Beside that, there could be e-book readers based on e-ink with integrated illumination.

FireEye Misidentifies Kaspersky Sinkhole as A Shared CNC Server for Gauss and Flame

News light-virus-1

It appears that the earlier claims from FireEye about a link between Gauss and Flame were a little premature. According to their blog they had found what appeared to be a shared command and control server. This was a significant find as it linked the two serious pieces of malicious code together and would have made Gauss another in the growing list of suspected State-Sponsored cyber-attacks. Unfortunately for FireEye, what they thought was a command and control (CNC) server turned out to be a sinkhole run by Kaspersky Labs.
