Gaming on the side, how side quests are making AAA games.
The days of the long campaign game are almost dead and gone. Since Half Life 2 we have not really seen a game with the same sprawl even with its linear path. The reason for this is that game developers are under increased pressure to get the title out. They do not have the time to create the massive world that we saw in Half Life and Half Life 2. To combat this game have been turning to the idea of the side quest. These are little mini games inside the world of the larger game that provide opportunities to explore the world further. Of course games have moved away from the end to end style of games like Half Life, Modern Warfare etc. The need to allow for player development has moved games in a new, and needed, direction.
Dying Light Pushes out New DLC with Hardcore Missions
I have to admit that I am a big fan of the whole Zombie genre. There is something about a game where the “bad’ guy is predominantly the undead out for your brains. Added into most of these games is an element of hardship. You do not have all of the trappings of modern technology, food, medicine, ammo and weapons are all scarce. Well… at least that is the way it is supposed to be. In a lot of current games you still have access to some pretty heavy firepower even if ammo is thin on the ground.
Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Gets a Swag Heavy Pro Edition, Just not for PC
Every now and then you see a game developer/publisher really push the limits when it comes to the goodies they are willing to pack into a game. We have seen everything from personal drones to night vision goggles in some kits. Now the latest Call of Duty will feature some pretty impressive gear including mockups of two of the weapons used in the game.
Battlefield Hardline Delayed until Ealry 2015 to Improve The Game from Top to Bottom
Remember all of the jokes about EA putting out games before they were ready? I do and many of them were very funny. Apparently someone at EA might have read them too and while we can picture them having an amused chuckle at first they might have also been a little concerned. Around the time that E3 was happening EA made comments to the effect that they would no longer push games out the door before they were ready. We all looked on with a look of “yeah right” on our faces and waited for the next unfinished game to hit the streets.
Mirror's Edge 2 to be Launched at E3 2014 Today
Hey, remember the game Mirror’s Edge? Well if you do not it was about a young woman who works as a runner. Runners are hired by underground groups that want to communicate without the use of heavily monitored phone or network systems (sound familiar?). The get around the city runners use a variety of techniques including leaping from rooftop to rooftop. This means there are plenty of combination moves to ensure that you maintain momentum and can make that next jump. Mirror’s Edge was also noteworthy for its open environment and different first person viewpoint (it was much closer to a real first person view).

In their latest release, Bethesda has announced that Wolfenstein: The New Order is now released for sale in all world markets. New Wolfenstein title leads us to an alternate history in which the Nazis won the war and established dominion over the entire world.
Multiplayer modes for Battlefield 4 Launched
DICE on Battlefield blog posted details of the seven multiplayer modes, which are intended for Battlefield 4. It is noteworthy that only Conquest and Dominion modes will be available in the multiplayer beta, which on the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 arrives on 4th of October. In addition to the above mentioned modes, Battlefield 4 comes with a brand new multiplayer mode named Obliteration, which (like almost all other modes) should support up to 32 players on PC, Xbox and PlayStation 4 One, and up to 24 players on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360
System requirements for Battlefield 4 released
A little less than two months before the release of the long-awaited Battlefield 4, DICE and EA have released the official system requirements, leaving us plenty of time so that if necessary, we can splash money to upgrade our gaming machines.

John Carmack Joins VR Company Oculus As CTO
Despite many claims that touch is the next way we will interact with our devices there are those that think (quite rightly) that this is not actually the case. The problem with touch interaction is that they are not very accurate and also tend to block your field of view (nothing like having your finer over your target). Because of this touch is not really suited for continued usage and is best as an intermediary input form. Now before someone points out that touchpads have accuracy down to 1mm we will clarify what we are saying here, touch screens are not suited for most computing and with the exception of a certain vertical are terrible for gaming.
