Valve's Big Picture arrived, Bringing PC Gaming to the TV

valve bald guy

The new Big Project from Valve that is supposed to bring Steam to the TV and in some ways create competition for today’s consoles has been released today. It will transfer the existing Steam UI to one more practical for a TV screen such as huge icons, oversized text and big menus. This will be similar to the Xbox and Play Station UIs. Now PC users will finally be able to connect their machines to the TV and start playing laid back on their sofa without thinking will they have to push some keyboard buttons or navigate around with mouse, they can do that all with just gamepad.

Pete Hines from Bethesda dislikes the idea of having to deal with new consoles

bethlogo

The Bethesda vice president of PR and marketing has been very busy these days. Besides dealing with complaining from PS3 users about the lack of Dawnguard on their platform, he also gave his opinion regarding today’s consoles.  “I don’t think the current generation of consoles are holding us back. There is still plenty that we are able to do visually, technically and from a story-telling standpoint. And there’s this huge built-in audience now.” According to him there are two main problems, and probably no one can argue with him on these.

Microsoft Will Not Patch Major Exploits in IE 10 Bundled Flash Until After October 26th

MS-Myth

In only a few weeks Microsoft could find themselves in something of a bind as they appear to have forgotten quite a bit about security while trying to make sure that their new OS can work with their cloud services. Since the release of the “build” version of Windows 8 we have been picking through the way that it operates and how its system function. We have found more than a few items of concern; some of which have finally been fixed, others have not. One of our primary concerns is the semi-walled garden that Microsoft is putting Merto/Modern apps into in order to prevent the side loading of apps that are not from the Microsoft Store, but which also prevents proper malware protection from working.

Pirate Bay founder coming home

news pirate-bay-logo

Gottfrid Svartholm has been imprisoned in Cambodia for over a week and now it looks like authorities have finally arranged his transfer to Sweden. Bertil Olofsson, Head of the International Section of the National Police said that Svartholm is indeed coming back. The problem is that there are no direct flights from Cambodia's capital Penh to Sweden. Because of this they will first have to travel to Bangkok, Thailand and then fly to Sweden. During the flight he will be escorted by a police officer and official from the prison service.
