Windows 8 Tops the List for Futuremark's Peacekeeper Bench

peacekeeperWindows 8 will be released for both x86 and ARM tablets in Q4 of this year (2012). We have talked about what that means to both Apple and Google and managed to ruffle more than a few feathers in the process. Today we read an interesting story that shows the New iPad is scoring the same as the iPad 2 when it comes to Futuremark’s Peacekeeper benchmark. This test is meant to test different browsers and their ability to perform different tasks. According to the results page the New iPad scored just one more point than the iPad2. This does not mean that the hardware is slower, in fact is means just the opposite considering a few important factors.

DecryptedTech's One Year Anniversary Modding Competition

Gold-Award-introAbout a year ago we re-launched DecryptedTech; prior to that the site was intended to fill in the gaps in other projects that I was working on. However, I soon decided that I wanted to build something new and different from what was already out there. In keeping with this spirit we have decided to hold a modding contest on our Forum. The contest officially opens today and will officially close on April 20th.

The rules are simple;
All work must be your own.
Work logs must be posted or linked on our forum.
You must be able to prove that the work is yours.
You must also be a registered member of our Forum.
DecryptedTech staff and their families are not eligible for this contest.

If you need space to store images for your work logs please contact us and we can set something up for you. At the end of the competition our three “celebrity” judges will pick the winners.

The judges are;

Ramsom Koay - Thermal Take
Chris Morley – CTO MAINGEAR Computers

Trace Hagan – Formerly from The Best Case Scenario
Our prizes are as follows

1st Place
Thermal Take Level 10 GT AND a Gigabyte G1.Guerilla
2nd Place
Gigabyte G1.Assassin (X58) motherboard
3rd Place
Gigabyte X79-UD3

Good luck to everyone, if you have any questions send them to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. Anonymous-OS Turns out to be another attempt to capitalize on the popularity of the "real" Anonymous

IntroFUD (Fear Uncertainty and Doubt) comes in many forms. The most common is through the use of the News (printed and internet) here as hundreds of millions of people consume content from multiple sources the seeds of misinformation can be sewn with relative ease. Over the past few months we have seen the NSA, the FBI, Fox News, Symantec and others start to pain the Anonymous (and other) online movement as villains. The FBI, CIA and NSA have even begun the campaign to throw them into the same category as terrorists. Most of these have not met with success as more and more people are beginning to read between the lines of the daily news, but it still has an impact.

Subpoenas Issued Demanding Logs and IP Addresses for some Occupy Websites

73In a very interesting twist on the Occupy movement Subpoenas are being issued demanding information relating to many of the Websites that related to the Occupy cause. One of the Subpoenas that was posted on Scribd.com is asking for quite a bit of information including “Any and all documents and records relating to the following articles posted on the Website including records of the IP addresses and pseudo names of the blog posters.”

Google Chrome's Sand Box Takes a Kicking at CanSecWest; Gets Hacked Three Times

GoogleGoogle’s previously unassailable Chrome web browser has now been hacked three times in only two days. The first two we have already told you about in a previous article. Vupen a French research company found a 0-day exploit that allowed them to jump out of Google’s Sand Box and then another that allowed them to execute arbitrary code on the OS that Chrome was installed on (in this case Windows). Vupen did this as part of the Pwn2Own competition held every year.
