Tribes: Ascend GOTY edition

Hi-Rez Studios is brining news about their free-to-play title Tribes: Ascend. As of today you can find on sale at the official Tribes web site and on Steam Tribes: Ascend Game of the Year Edition. It is a pretty big release with which customers automatically unlock over 100 weapons, all nine classes and twenty skills, and it includes all the earlier published additional facilities.

Less news expected from Apple in the next few months

Gene Munster, an analyst from the Piper Jaffray, believes that Apple will simply redesign their larger iPad to make it look more like the iPad Mini. He says that Apple has, on average, a four month gap between big events, and usually they roll out new versions of tablets during the spring. Given that the iPad Mini was launched in October last year, it is expected that in the next few months they will introduce a redesigned larger iPad. But, Munster said he does not believe that Apple will introduce a smaller iPad with a Retina display with the current problems in supplying the market with sufficient equipment.

Steam for Linux came out of beta

After passing various beta versions since November last year onwards, the Steam application for Linux is now officially released in the Ubuntu Software Center. Steam for Linux can be downloaded from there in both 32 and 64 bit versions. The new Steam App is officially supported in Ubuntu 12.04 LTS and Ubuntu 12.10. But, as in the beta stage, Steam for Linux can work with minimal adjustments on different version of Ubuntu and other Linux distributions like Debian.

Optimus G Pro to compete with Note 2

Last month, LG unveiled the Optimus Pro G for the Japanese market. It is a smartphone with a five inch diagonal which screen comes with a resolution of 1,920x1,080 pixels. It was promising device, but now they decided to improve it a bit.

Lately there have been some rumors going around saying that Valve plans to fire some of their employees, and now Gamasutra brought news that on Monday they fired 25 workers. After contacting the recently laid-off, one gets the impression that this relegation had nothing to do with the individual's work, but global challenges Valve is faced with.
